A Content Anomaly Detector based on n-Grams

This web pages presents some examples for using Salad. The project's documentation obviously is the preferred source of information for how to use and work with Salad. Having a few practical examples at hand is equally useful to learn about Salad's features and capabilities though.

Text Categorization

  • example Example 1 introduces the task of text categorization and shows how Salad can be used in this setting. Specifically Salad identifies "abnormal" documents, i.e. document which thematic categorization is different to that of the training data set.

Network Data Analysis

  • example Example 2 presents Salad in a setting from the field of network intrusion detection. Salad is applied to recorded FTP traffic for which it is possible to effectively spot attacks/ anomalies.
